Reading the site
You can read every page without an account. We use no advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
We use Google Analytics to see how many people read the site, which pages they open, which country they are in and how they found us (a search engine, a link on another site). Google sets its own cookies (_ga and _ga_5BVGRFH1FZ, kept for up to 2 years) to tell a returning visitor from a new one. We see only totals, never who you are. You can block these cookies in your browser or with Google's opt-out add-on.
Like every website, our server records each request: your IP address, the page asked for, the time and your browser's name. We use these records to keep the site running and to stop abuse, and older records are overwritten as new ones come in.
When a page fails on our server, an error report goes to Sentry, which stores it in the European Union. The report holds the page address and the technical details of the error, without your IP address or cookies.
The site sits behind Cloudflare, which carries the traffic between you and our server. Cloudflare handles your IP address to do that.
Accounts
You need an account only to post a comment or a complaint. We keep:
- your email address, to sign you in and to send the confirmation link;
- your password, stored only as a one-way hash that cannot be read back;
- your name, only if you add it on your account page; it is never shown next to your posts;
- when you joined and when you last signed in.
We send email only to confirm your address. We send no newsletters or marketing. Email is sent through Resend.
To stop abuse we count sign-up and sign-in attempts per IP address for an hour.
Player posts
We keep the text of each post, the casino it is about, its type and topic, any amount you enter and the dates. Your email and name are never published with a post. A post we decline stays in our records but is never shown.
Cookies and browser storage
- sessionid keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days.
- csrftoken protects the forms you send.
- cs-theme (browser storage) remembers whether you chose the light or dark look.
Reading the site without signing in sets csrftoken and the Google Analytics cookies named above.
Where your data is kept
Our server is in Austria, in the European Union. Database backups are kept for 14 days on our server and for 30 days in encrypted storage on Cloudflare. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we share it only with the services named on this page (Cloudflare, Resend, Google Analytics, Sentry), or when the law requires it.
Your choices
Write to i@casinosnoop.com from the email address on your account to see what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete your account and posts. If you are unhappy with how we handled your request, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
